Home from the Redwoods

Here's to my first update on my new website! Cheers! I'm excited, are you?

First off, I hope you get a chance to check out my new site! I've updated work in the various media I work in and there might be a couple new surprises as well! There's a few little things I'm still working on, but those will come in time...I've got artwork to be making! As some of you know, I've taken the plunge into being a full time artist! It's a very exciting and scary time, but it's good. I'm quickly getting into the swing of things and looking forward to new adventures and challenges! And on that note, I'd like to say a huge thank you to all my collectors! Your support is invaluable and I wouldn't be able to pursue this dream without you! Thank you, thank you! I hope my work brings you joy on a daily basis!

Next thing is the show at the Mendocino Coast Botanical Gardens! That was, hands down, the most beautiful venue I have ever shown in. The redwoods are always spectacular, the cold ocean breeze and the steep cliffs just a short distance away from my space, the dahlia flowers that were as big as my head, and the FERNS! OMG can we talk about the ferns?! I love them, they are gorgeous. I wish I could have scooped them up and taken some of them home with me. I met so many wonderful people and heard fascinating stories. I think it's safe to say, a great time was had by all. I'm hoping to be able to participate in the show again next year!   I unveiled a new body of work at this show which was met with a great response. It's always rewarding as an artist to hear honest and positive feedback about new work. (There's even a secret, super special honor that I received that I will be sharing soonish!) I'm going to continue to create work in this collection; I'm really loving it and I hope the love is passed on and felt in each piece.

The next show on the calendar is the 7th annual Art & Wine benefit for the Modjeska Ranch Rescue! The show is on September 22 from 1-4 PM. I can't believe this is the 7th year already! I've been doing this show since year one and it only gets better each year. I'm looking forward to seeing familiar faces and many new ones, I hope! Let's help the rescue help all those precious critters!

Best,

Karin

It's been a busy start to 2019! I've got a new series in the works...well, nearly finished, that will be up on my Etsy shop soon! I'm very excited for these new pieces. They have new shapes, many are lidded vessels, and the Kintsugi lines are more refined. Also, I've got more pieces with the feather raku technique! I've been having a great time figuring this out and I've been madly collecting different types of feathers to see what effects I can achieve. So much fun :)

I've been working on scheduling shows for the early part of this year! I'll be heading up to Paso Robles, California for Art in the Park in mid April. I will also be having my very first Ampersand Curiosities show! I'll be bringing a bunch of crystalized insects to the Oddities & Curiosities Expo in Del Mar, California on March 9! This will be a strange change of pace for me, but I'm really looking forward to it!

What a summer! It's completely flown by and somehow it's already November! I've had a few wonderful shows and met so many fantastic people! The 7th Annual Art & Wine was a great success (again!) and we collectively raised a lot of money for the Modjeska Ranch Rescue! If you'd like to read more about the rescue, please enjoy this article that was published in the LA Times.

To kick off the fall, I made the long, 14 hour trek up to Bend, Oregon for the Fall Festival. What a treat that was! This was my first time visiting the Oregon high desert (actually, first time in Oregon period!) and I was completely blown away by the beauty of the area. All the fall colors were off the charts gorgeous and everyone I met was wonderful! I am so looking forward to this show again next year! I can't wait to see my new Oregonian friends again!

I'm looking forward to a couple shows for the upcoming holidays and I'll be doing some promotions for "Small Buisness Saturday" through my Etsy page (more info to come).
